Bangalore - the Mecca for all time die-hard foodies

People say "whoever comes to Bangalore, settles down in Bangalore". Some say the weather in Bangalore is one of the prime reasons ... Above all it is the job opportunity that attracted many of us to this city ... The recession has also seen many leaving the city but what seems to be mushrooming up are the restaurants.

Koramangla can indeed boast of housing maximum number of restaurants and these appetite caretakers are popping up in numbers because of the number of shopping establishments you find here.

What interests me most about Bangalore is food ... u get a variety n I m sure foodies will love the city. For non-vegetarians I bet, it is heaven.

And Koramangla is one of the interesting parts of the city. You get Italian, Chinese, Hyderabadi, Kannad, Mangalorean, Udupi, Madurai, Chettinad, Malayali/Kairali, Punjabi and Bengali just in one locality.Every month you find one or the other restaurant coming up. Take for example, Koramangla.

On my first day in Bangalore, I had put up at Koramangla and I was floored by the cool ambience of the place. I could not resist the temptation of introducing myself to the lanes and by-lanes of the 6th block in Koramangla.

On my usual journey for food in the streets of Koramangla, I accidentally met the hero (Anand Sweets) on 60 feet road. Ummmmmmmm lovely sweets but very costly, the price made me say, "jai ho Kolkata for the unparallel variety of sweets you dish out at unbelievable cost". KCDas in Koramangla is a brand dilution, they offered very bad ras malai.

Walking down in the evening on the same day I tried Biriani at Amma's Biriani near Forum...It is a home made type biriani without the grandeur of Hyderabadi or a Lucknowi Biriani and therefore would not consider it eligible for rating.

Though I told myself "greed is sin", I could not escape being enticed by Hungry Panda, sitting quietly round the corner, while you come towards Koramangla/NGV from Forum. This place reminded me of my student days when quantity and variety at an affordable price meant a lot for me.

Food at Kairali, near Forum is also delicious.

The best Fish thali I had was in Hotel Empire. But equally good is Paramount.

The Mangalorean food at CoastIICoast is too good. I liked the fish biryani there while neerdosa and chicken sukka always remained mouthwatering to us. My friends also liked the chicken ghee roast there. Kubay is also a nice place to visit, I had bangda and plain rice.

A non-veg thali at Anjappar Chettinad was interesting - u get two medium sized pieces of chicken and tiny bowls full of fish gravy, mutton gravy etc...

Hyderabad House is good for Hyderabadi biryani. At Meghana's Food I enjoyed everything and they offer you authentic Hyderabadi food...and those who don't like oily/greasy food, this is a nice place to hang out...

The best Chinese food u can enjoy with your family is at the China Pearl. China Bowl is also good but a little on the higher side and I loved the food there too. Ping is on the higher side.

The Chinese Cottage next to Hyderabad House is an affordable kind of Chinese food u want to gorge upon...Chung Wah is also an affordable place to haunt frequently and I assume they dish out great pork items...

Bhojohori Manna is good when it comes to authentic Bengali dishes...I rated it 5/5 on my first visit but on my second visit, I am TOTALLY dissatisfied.

Esplanade is okay, they gave me shorshey ilish while I ordered for something else.

Udupi food as usual is always good and among all the variety that South India has to offer, the North Indians find Udupi food good. I am a great fan of Udupi Food and eat regularly from Adiga's, Shanthi Sagar, Sukh Sakar, Udupi Upahar etc. It is wise not to try north Indian food in these places.

Even the small shops like Madurai Idli and SV Idli offer tasty food.

Pizzeria offers wonderful Pizzas and I loved it.

Taste of Rampur is okay and it offers special beverages, a masala lime juice kind of a thing, which is superb.

More than Parathas is good but they don't live upto the name as advertised...I expected a variety of Parathas at the buffet but there was only one type.

Never tried food at Chandni Chowk because it looks strange.

Flambe, the new restaurant on 60 feet Road is a hotch potch. I donno what actually they are trying to sell. They say they sell continental but when you look at the menu, you find shorshey ilish...RIDICULOUS!
